Metaphorically a Catalyst.


In the simplest of terms, a catalyst is a person or thing that sparks an event. The first time I heard this word, I was in the intro to chemistry class I almost failed my sophomore year of college. Maybe I was doing so poorly because my right-brained mind took the meaning of a catalyst very metaphorically instead of focusing on the fact that I had a whole periodic table to learn… 

Either way, in chemistry a catalyst is a substance that increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself undergoing any permanent chemical change. Ever since that class, I’ve been determined to be the catalyst for something great. I was to spark something big and impact the world positively. But that is a lot easier said than done.

The hardest part of wanting to be a world changer is not knowing where to start. I'm not opposed to hard work but I don't know what to work on. So, I'm working hard everyday to figure it out. I am at an advantage though. I live in a beautiful and budding city. St. Petersburg is full of art, music, and fashion and the Burg is growing and evolving into something of consequence. It's comforting to know my home and I are evolving together.

Last Saturday I spent my whole day gallivanting downtown. I went to my internship at my favorite vintage store, MISRED Outfitters, and wrote a few blog posts. After that, I met up with my best friend to enjoy sushi, free museum day, and a photoshoot with some street art on Central Ave. 

 Florida isn't just God's waiting room, people!
